2000 Evap Inc and 171 and 174 Codes

I have a 2000 X with the OHV 4.0 engine that has 140k. I am getting both the P0171/P0174 codes as well as the Evap Incomplete which sets the MIL to on. I checked for vacuum leaks and found none, cleaned the Evap solenoid under the battery try, and cleared the codes. I drove it for 30 miles or so with 3 engine stop and starts before the CEL came on again. Same codes, P0171/P0174 and the Evap Inc which again set the MIL to On.
Will an Evaporator system problem set the P0171/P0174 codes? Any clue what would set the Evap to Inc? I don't know if I have two seperate problems or if it is one problem causing both eror codes. Does the OHV engine have the same intake manifold leak issues as the SOHC engine? Thanks

Re: 2000 Evap Inc and 171 and 174 Codes

I assume you actually mean the Evaporative Emissions readiness tests don't complete. This could be related to your P0171 and P0174 codes.

These codes have been addressed a few times. I'm too lazy to retype everything, so I'm going to suggest you use the "Search this forum" feature from the Explorer forum main page for P0171 keyword and try the suggestions in the other threads you'll find there.

For all practical purposes, your Explorere is essentially the same as the 1997-2001 model years.
