1996 Dakota V8 4WD won't start
Truck was running fine until the other day when I shut it off and it would not restart, acted like it was not firing. Checked a few things and they looked ok. Let the truck set for a could of hours, tried it and it started. Drove it down to the store, shut it off and it woud not restart. Again I let it set for a couple of hours and it restarted and I drove it home. I backed it into the driveway and itwould not restart. The next morning it restarted and I drove it a short distance and now it will not restart at all
. A buddy of mine who is very automotively inclined told me the crankshaft position sensor is bad. He told me this without ever looking at the car. Is he correct? Is there a way to check this sensor before I replace it? I know there are many things that could give this symptom but what does everyone here think? Thanks: |

Re: 1996 Dakota V8 4WD won't start
Get your wallet ready because:
One - Your friend is correct, I just had the cam sensor replace 3 month's ago, and by the time the local delear do other little things you will make your local mechanic very happy, because with my discount I left several hundred dollars. I just had a brand new baby added to my house and the hospital bill was not as high as the repairs on my truck were. Second - Delear explaination was that wire leading to sensor was worn out. As to this day I do not belive this. actually I think it's Main computer that runs the truck that gets slamed by them in order to temporary make it run. Because curently winter just came and my truck will not start in the cold atmospheric condition. Spend the money on a loved one he/she at least will apreciate the efort for a day. If your frind is avilable I do have a question on truck for you. |
