scent of gas

This is two times in a row I've noticed this (then again, this is two times in a row I had my windows down cause it's nice outside).

I start the car, idle feels "rough", I go into reverse and pull out, and as im pulling out, i smell gas.

What's up with that? I don't see any obvious leaks.

Check for vacuum leaks or bad hoses on everything that attaches to the vapor canister. Make sure the purge valve is intact and operational.

Well, the purge valve, that's just dangling, it lost it's clip to the engine, is that ok?

As long as the lines are attached correctly, no problem.

Re: scent of gas

Ok. the lines are attached, and I zip tied it to another line, to make sure it never goes anywhere.

this scent is only when it's cold in the morning, if it's hot in the morning, there's no smell either.

There is a small filter on the bottom of the canister - this might be plugged. It's replaceable and they're not expensive - that may be the problem.
