help with squeeky serpenten belt

I have a problem that has stumped all the mechanics and shops i have brought my sons 98 blazer too. The problem is a squeeky serpenteen belt... now what we have done so fr is changed the idle arm, the belt tensioner, the belt, what happens is we change a part and it seems to not squeek but if it sits for awhile when started the noise returns. The squeek started when we had some ac work done to the vehicle,,, new compressor, and evaporator and so on...... ever since then the belt has been squeeky,,, has anyone ever had this problem...... please help asap ,,,,,

Re: help with squeeky serpenten belt

Try a Goodyear Gatorback belt. It worked for me.

Re: help with squeeky serpenten belt

I had the same problem with my 2000 Jimmy SLE 4.3L. I tried replacing eveything too, including the Tensioner and idler pulley but nothing worked, the squeek kept returning. Luckily, I was able to return the parts that didn't fix the problem. The Gatorback was my latest try and it is working so far. None of the other brand name belts seem to hold up.

Re: help with squeeky serpenten belt

First, this may sound dumb, but make sure the belt follows all the groves on each pulley. It may sound dumb, but its easy to oversee this. Next, since you mention the noise started when there was A/C work done on it, check and makes sure all the pullies are aligned to each other. In this case, closely look at the compressor, and make sure its aligned properly. Is the belt jumping any of the pullies? Check the belt routing and see what you get.
