Question Help 98 trans sport ABS, TCS and brake lights

The ABS, TCS and brake lights come on when you put the van down in drive and stay on. The vehicle breaks fine. What is causing this? Is there some kind of factory setting that they put on the vehicle to make it do this after a certain amount of time? Also I have notice a noise under the dash since this whole thing started. Please help!!!!!!!!

Re: Help 98 trans sport ABS, TCS and brake lights

Could "the noise under the dash" be the ABS system resetting ? It does make a kind of rattling noise for 1/2 sec. Brake light can be trigged by low brake fluid or parking brake not fully returning to rest or damaged/loose parking brake switch...ALl this does not fully explain what you experience but accepts being checked to begin with...
Reading the codes with a full capability scanner (not "engine able" only..) would help...

Re: Help 98 trans sport ABS, TCS and brake lights

Are you also having problems with the rear break lights?

I was having the same problem on my 98 and I found a corroded contact on the rear passenger side tail light pod and connector. Cleaned both the male and female connections and have not had a problem in 2 months. The corrosion is black in color.
