Some other engine related questions and whatnot...
Hey guys, this is my first post here. I may be purchasing a 85 F250 extended cab tomorrow.
My friend and I were checking the truck over and we found it's pretty solid with some rust on the body but not on the frame. Interior is ok, but what worried me the most was that there was oil on the engine. I was told by the owner that most likely it's the gaskets. Now, besides the oil pan gaskets, I know I'm going to replace. Should I just take the time and replace the head gasket gasket and what else should I replace? Thanks.

Re: Oil leak?
Oil on the engine is probably just the valve cover gaskets. Fairly easy fix.

Re: Oil leak?
Unless you have a reason to put new head gaskets on I would leave them alone, it's kind of a project. I would just stick with the valve cover gaskets and see if it corrects the leak (it most likely will).

Re: Oil leak?
Thanks guys! I replaced the valve cover gaskets and that fixed the leak. Now i'm just working on getting the motor running smooth again.
I gotta replace the spark plugs and wires. Any suggestions on what brand to replace them with?
