'85 S-10 Make-over

Ok ladies and gentlemen, this is going to be a long one. I've got an '85 Chevy S-10 Pickup 2WD with the Isuzu 1.9 SOHC 4 cyl, single barrle carb. I also have the factory 4-spd manual and factory rear end.

My goal is a decent power off roader. I want to suspension lift it 2" and slap a set of 31X10.5 LT15s on it. Not a bad lift.

The 1.9 is coming out and I have someone with a stock 327 chevy motor. I'm looking to slap an Edelbrock Manifold with a Holly 4 barrel carb. 4 prog spark plugs.

My questions are...
1. What else would I do to the motor to get a little extra power?
2. What brand 5 spd transmission would be best for the motor and where would I find it?
3. Anything to look out for when I do the lift?
4. Would I have to do anything to the rear end to accomidate the power?
