Question Idle issues again

So the car seems to be running better than it's been, however when I pop it out of gear, the idle tends to sit at about ~1500 or so until I come to a complete stop. If you remember, my EGR pipe decided to rub against my wire harness after the swap and melt the loom and the insulation and was causing a short. Moved those out of the way and it was fine.

After the accident, I did the same thing and the wires were touching the pipe, melted and shorted a little more. Could the shorting have burned out the IAC and/or TPS to a point where it's not working that great, but yet not throw a CEL? The TPS seems to be fine according to the SAFC. Shows throttle position perfectly. And there's no problems with the car actually running, which leads me to believe possible IAC failure.

Any thoughts on this? If that's the case, this will be my 3rd IAC in almost 4 years now.

Re: Idle issues again

Test the bitch.

Turn ignition off. Disconnect Idle Air Control (IAC) motor connector. Using a DVOM, measure resistance between IAC motor connector terminals No. 1 and 4, then between terminals No. 2 and 3. See Fig. 9 . Resistance should be between 38-52 ohms at approx. 68* F. If resistance is within specification, IAC motor is okay. If resistance is not within specification, replace IAC motor.

Re: Idle issues again

Ok so I took the TB off and tested the IAC and the TPS and they both work fine. I noticed the butterfly was kinda sticking when closed, even after I cleaned it. I did some really lite sanding around the edge on the butterfly and it's more smooth, but keeping a good seal.

This seemed to help out quite a bit, but still idle problems. Flapper is closed all the way, not sticking anymore, but still when I pop to neutral idle still takes a while for it to drop down. Any ideas?

Re: Idle issues again

I was reading up on some MegaSquirt reviews on 2gnt and one of the guys said he had a shitty idle that he couldn't figure out for the life of him. When he got the MegaSquirt, all the idle problems went away. Just something to maybe look into being as you'll need it eventually anyways.

Re: Idle issues again

Sounds like a vacumm leak. When I removed my EGR, I forgot to go back and plug that nipple. The car ran fine except it would take a while to idle down to normal. I would disconnect every line, one at a time and plug it off and see if that helps.
