2003 power steering leak

My son is purchasing a 2003 Frontier V6 with FWD. We are getting it for a great price from a relative, but want to know what we are in for.

The power steering box has oil on it, almost as if a seal is gone. The fluid is not going down much, indicating that the leak is still small.

Is the seal replaceable or are we looking at potentially a new power steering box?

I see your post was quite a while ago. My steering gear box started leaking a year or two ago. It leaks about three ounces a month. It has not gotten any worse.
