Tires to buy for '97 Grand Prix GT
I'm thinking of going to Walmart to get tires soon, which set should I buy? I don't want to spend alot so here are a few choices.
-Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring $75 each Uniroyal Long Touring $75 each Uniroyal Tiger Paw AWP (97S) $85 each Goodyear Integrity (97S) $85 each Or any other tire you would recommend that's not to expensive. I currently have 95k on my car and only drive 4 miles to work one way, I am mostly worried about the snowy road conditions here in NY. |

Try searching tire-rack.com for tires. You can look at the survey results and that will give you an indication of which tire you may like for your car. I have used all the tires you mentioned and am not a fan of Uniroyal. Goodyear makes a good tire but they can be expensive although the ones you list aren't that bad. If you are worried about snowy conditions you might want to look into some winter tires for your car. It is a short term solution and you will need new tires in the spring but they work much better in snow.
Personally I currently have Goodrich on my GTP, Goodyear triple treads on my son's vibe, Kuhmo's on my Escort and Michelins on the wife's Pacifica. I also have a set of Kuhmo tires for the GTP on the stock rims. |

Re: Tires to buy for '97 Grand Prix GT
I agree with Lynn. Shop around and get some decent tires that at least meet or exceed the ratings of the original Goodyear Eagle GTs. It was all part of a tuned suspension, tire and handling package which is specific to Grand Prixs.
The Goodyear Integrity are mediocre tires compared to their other offerings and I would stay away from the Uniroyals too especially if you plan on keeping it. If you are selling it then no problem. Goodyear tires are more expensive but IMO overall excellent tires. Check into the Goodyear Assurance TripleTred. A little more money buy worth it compared to what you have listed. Just for annecdotal info I have the Goodyear Eagle RSA "V" rated in P245/45R-18 on 18" AR wheels. Expensive though but I don't expect you to consider them. ![]()

Re: Tires to buy for '97 Grand Prix GT
I purchased a set of Yokohama YK520's last July and so far I'm happy with them. They have a 60,000 mile warranty and ride comfortably. However some have said that they're too "soft" and the sidewalls are weak but I have not experienced any of that. Their rating on discounttire.com is above average.
