2005 2500HD Diesel 4 whl Dr engaging hard

My 2005 seems to engage rather hard when going from 2Hi to 4Hi. To get it to go in quietly I have to me slower then 10kms/hr. I took it to the dealer and they told me it seems to be functioning normally. Though, God it's quite a kick when it engages.

I brought it home and retrieved 3 DTC's B2484, C0040 & C0035. I assume they did not check for DTC's, Would that not be the 1st thing they would do???

The later 2 seem to have some relation to the prob, Rear wheel Speed Sensor and a Right Front Tone Wheel (This one I don't understand what it is).

Could these be responsible?

Also I have a leak in the lower Rad hose where a smaller hose Y's into the main one. They told me Warranty would not cover that, and they want 400.00 to replace and refill the coolant. I would have thought that would be a warranty fix.

I', dues to take it back Wednesday for the hose and they suggest I get the Transfer Case & Rear Diff Oils replaced.. another 300.00. Any comments on these fluids being changed?

Truck has 127000Kms on it. They are suggestion these fluids be changed every 50,000 Kms

Also anyone know of a good DTC Table for this truck online?
Thanks in advance!!
Cheers

Why don't you replace the hose yourself. It is not that hard. you can save $400.

I was originally going to do that, but time is an issue, and if they do it they will flush the cooling system and replace the coolant, getting the orange coolant like it had.

Cheers

FYI I crawled under it to see if the Front U Joints were sloppy, they seem tight.

I guess I'm asking , Does anyone hear a noise when engaging 4Hi at say 15mph or higher?

Cheers

Re: 2005 2500HD Diesel 4 whl Dr engaging hard

Last time I heard about a problem like this it was something as dumb as the owner had a spare tire on that was worn and visibly smaller in diameter on the steering axle, at the least check your tires air pressure, this relatively new truck off hand and that sympton might lead me to see if there was a possibilty of u-joints or cv joints or on an older vehicle automatic hubs that were sluggish to engage because of debris or cold weather and slush in cup, course our newer trucks don't have those anymore.

On my 2002 the only time I hear clunks is if I were to accidentally rev my engine or I have wheelspin and going too fast.Force of habit I always stop and put in neutral or at least coast slowly without touching the throttle.

Re: 2005 2500HD Diesel 4 whl Dr engaging hard

Tires are brand new & balanced, had it back to the dealer yesterday for the Rad hose change, they took another look changed fluids in diffs and transfer case. They still claim no prob with 4whl engagement. So I guess I will drive it for the winter and see what happens.. if it get worse..still have just over 30,000kms on warranty and they documented that I was complaining about this.
Cheers
