1994 Dodge Caravan transmission problems

My wife drives a 94 Caravan, we let it go awhile without putting any transmission fluid in it and one day it stopped shifting out of 3rd gear. I filled it with transmission fluid but it would still not shift.

I was told that the transmission was probably in "safe mode", that wasn't the exact way it was described to me but anyway apparently the transmission will continue to do this until it is "reset". I tried turning the ignition on and off 20 times and that didn't fix it, and I tried disconnecting the battery and that didn't fix it. Anyone know of any other methods of getting it out of "safe mode"?

There's you sign!

Did it have fluid when you drove it? Have you tried removing the neg. first then possitive for a few minutes?

Re: 1994 Dodge Caravan transmission problems

So I took it in to a shop and it turns out the tramission control module is fried. The guy told me I can go to a Dodge dealer and buy a new one for $300 or try a scalpyard but I'd be better off buying a new one.

I can't find one online anywhere. Anyone know a good website to buy Dodge parts?

I think I bought the control module on Ebay...

and I've tried this place before.

How sure are you that the clutch packs did not get burned and fried?? how low on fluid was it? did you drop the pan and look for signs of particles in there?
