"Newbie" needs INFO!

Hi Everybody!

I am a devoted Camaro Automotive Forums poster, but I am new to the Buick Post. I am now the proud owner of 1999 Buick Le Sabre, 3800 V6, 156,000 on the Odo and have a few issues that I would like some advice on.

Firstly, the temp gauge shows that I am running at 120 to 130 degrees in town and on the highway. I am not impressed with the heater output. Am I running with a temp too low. If so, what could be causing this? (my Camaro runs at min 180, so I'm concerned).

Second, the tape player wont work. It keeps saying "E13". Elsewhere I have found that the code means that there is some sort of communication error. What can I do to fix it? Also, the license plate lights are out. How do you change them? The screws for the cover just turn and turn.

And lastly, the drivers side power window switch can put the passenger side power window down, but will not put it up. (The passenger side switch works fine both up and down).

Please give me your thoughts on the above issues. I am very happy to be a part of this forum, and will give my limited advise, when I learn more about the car.

I just want to make a comment on the window. Mind does/did the same thing once in a while.

This probable is not the same problem, but might give it a try. On mine, when it acts up, I switch the "lock" "Unlock" switch (not door lock, but on the window switch) back and forth a couple times and the window works.

When a window doesn't work, it's usually in the drivers door switch. Not always, but most of the time. Maybe take it out and look at it from underneath where the wires plug in. Wiggle them around.

Not sure if this will help, wanted to give my experiences with my window situation.
Chris.

On the first item, try a new thermostat. Second item, the tape player is not worth the hassle. They sell "tape player" radios on eBay for 25-50 bucks everyday. Just replace it! Lastly, it sounds like the screws are stripped out on the license plate light. May have to drill them out and install larger screws. Good luck!
