Click noise when braking after changing front axle
Hi,
I just changed both front axles for my 95 Odyssey. Now whenever I brake, I hear the click sound and my foot can feel it at the brake pedal right before a full stop. This also happens sometimes when I am starting up. Any insight where to start looking? Thank you! |

Re: Click noise when braking after changing front axle
How hard was the replacement of the axle's? I have a 96 and dealship is looking at $1000 for replacement (Alaska) and I am sure I can do it myself depending on difficulty.....
I am not sure of your problem but would look if the brake calipers were seated correctly. Dealship also mentioned a front alingment nessasary after the work...could that be something to look at? |

Re: Click noise when braking after changing front axle
Thank you for your suggestion.
As for changing axles, there are some excellent posts giving detailed instructions. However, things could go wrong in many unexpected ways. Examples: I broke lower joint boot which costs more than replacing the axle; I have a hard time putting new axles in (stuck for a couple days), later turned out the the axle I bought (remanufactured) has some flaw on one end and after getting another one, it worked. Now I am having the brake clicking problem... Having someone experienced with cars around should be very helpful. Good luck! |

Re: Click noise when braking after changing front axle
When I did my axle I bent a part of the heat deflector and the rotor kept catching when I applied the breaks. I took the tire off, jacked the front, rotated with pressure on the breaks and found the problem quickly. I didn't think I was even near that part of the assy, it's pretty flimsey...so you might want to check that type of situation...
