Chevelle electronic ignition question

I have a 1967 Chevelle SS with electronic ignition. The motor was worked on and now the car will start but, will not shut off. You have to pull the coil wire to get it to stop. Any idea what caused this and what I can do to fix it?
Someone said something about a yellow wire that should not be connected.

What electronic ign.? OE was not electronic. #2 check how it was wired, should be wired to the ign switch somehow to operate only in start and run, pretty basic.

Re: Chevelle electronic ignition question

The 12v power to an HEI type ignition should be wired as mentioned above -- many times it is connected at the fuse block to a terminal that is always "hot" -- this will prevent the ignition from shutting down the engine when the key is turned off and drain the battery. The terminal used should be hot in RUN and START.

There is also an ACC terminal on the fuseblock that is only hot in run -- this will cause a strange no start condition where the engine will crank in the START postion but only try to (and possibly) start when the key is released.

Re: Chevelle electronic ignition question

if the charging system was converted as well it could have been mistakenly wired in to the ignition side keeping it "hot" when the key is turned off. this also burns up modules in hei systems, not that I ever done it or anything.
