87 Wrangler stops running

our 87' Wangler stops running after 10 - 15 min. It's almost like the engien heats up to a certain point and then it turns off. If we let it sit for a few hours, then it will start right back up. Please any ideas?

Re: 87 Wrangler stops running

It's probably the Stator. Located under the distributor cap. There only about $20.00

Re: 87 Wrangler stops running

Dusty,

You may have a problem with the ignition module. I had a broken wire on mine that cause similar problem. The module on my 88 was located behind the washer fluid bottle.
