Cluck noise when steering 00 intrigue

I've been having this problem since I got the car and have been ignoring it. Now I've finally looked into it and wish I did earlier its been clunky but not this clunky from 79k to 92k now. Happens everytime I steer, well If anyone has or had this problem its time to get some good information about it. The problem is the Intermediate Steering Shaft which needs new Lubrication, do not replace the shaft. It runs from under your dash panel and bolts up to your rack and pinion so the rack and pinion is good not bad in this case. I haven't done this yet but will soon. My question is will any gm dealer sell you this and its 25cents for the lube I think,but the Steering Column Shaft Lubrication Kit must be more part#26098237 will it apply to the intrigue also and any more info on this. This is nothing new. The best way to deal with this is go to any auto part store and get a can of white lithium grease; get under the dash; pull the rubber sheath that covers the connection and spray the reas on this connection. This will eliminate 90% of the problem. Or you can go to the dealer and have them do it for abut $125.

This is a common problem with these cars, even the dealer I went to said there is a grease kit to install on the u joint, but it is easier to spray oil or grease on it from time to time to prevent the clunking noise. Apparently it isn'e just the w-bodies, but trucks as well.

I had the same "cluck" noise (Intermediate Steering Shaft). I had mine replaced twice. The second time around they used a new part number to replace the shaft as apparently the original part kept having problems. There is a TSB on this as well. Unfortunately you car is probably out of warranty, I think to replace this was a few hundred dollars at the dealer (the second time I was slightly out of warranty but GM covered it anyway, maybe if you tell them this is a known defect and to see the TSB they will cover you as well).

Clunk is gone, I got the steering column shaft lube Kit from a gm dealer and white lithium grease from the parts store and all for under $20. Then a couple hours to get it done, I just took the damn thing out the boots were a pain to move around and had to hammer one end out. Would the dealer still ask a 100 for that recall if I went to them.

One problem gone but I still hear front end noise I think its inner tie rods and strut mounts maybe new tires also. Other than those all front end is new.

I hear a hum when I drive like one of the front tires is getting abnormal wear

I went to my local Chev dealer in town with this and they said there was no TSB on this problem. These guys have given me the run around before as well. I went to the other dealer in town named gilespie, who don't even sell oldsmobile, they are a gmc buick cadillac dealer. I didn't even finish explaining what was wrong with my car and the woman at the desk said, Oh, I know exactly what you are talking about and called the head technician out to explain to me what to do. He told me don't bother buying the kit, just spray some kind of lubricant up onto the ujoint at the floor board.

The low hum could very well be bad wheel hub bearings. Very common problem. Just had mine replaced Thursday. Huge difference!

I changed both wheel hub bearings in front when I brought the car say 80k to 92k. Now im thinking that could be it on my front right what should I do? Grease new bearings if thats possible I think the warranty is over.
