I want to replace the fluid in my transfercase but I can't find out how much it requires anywhere. Checked manual, haynes and online and came up with nada. Anybody tell me? also the silverado forums mention something about autotrak II for tcases do I need to use this on my older truck or is reg atf fine? It's a 96 with a 241 g thanks.

The 236 or 246 use the GM auto trac fluid.
All others call for dexron 111 which is being fased out to dexron 6. But do not use dexron 6 or the multi purpose fluid in a transfer case. If you can not find any dexron 3 atf fluid check arond for some older dexron/mercon atf fluid. Carquest should have the dexron/mercon fluid. 2 - 1/2 qt should get it. Good luck MT
