Does 95 turn signal switch have safety issue, not finding any

I have not experienced this for myself, but it has only happened once so far. My wife drove it to work, a six mile trip, and on every single right turn, when she used the turn signal stick, it sounded like it was making a crackling or a hissing sound, if I recall correctly. It also would sometimes not go all the way and wouldn't fully engage, sounding like something was keeping it from going in all the way. She didn't say she smelled anything and no fuses have blown, things not working so far that I know of, certainly nothing obvious. When she drove it home, no problems, symptoms, nothing.

I tried to research something like this here and on google and have found nothing like this or any safety issues on the web. My mind goes to what I thought was a very recent Ford recall on this part on other vehicles. Does anybody know of a safety issue with this, should I wait and see or is this an emergency?

Thanks for your help

Re: Does 95 turn signal switch have safety issue, not finding any

I may have had something similar for a while: whenever I turned left, the "tick tock" of the flasher unit would go "ticktickticktickticktick" very quickly and the signal would go on solid, which would sound like crackling. Other times, the turn signal would just not engage and would flip back to the midpoint. I just assumed it was a dirty contact/switch, and after a while it went away and I tried to not worry about it...
