Degree of difficulty - heater core replace?
99 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 5.9L. Being a novice (at best) mechanic, is it worth the savings for me to try and replace the heater core myself? What are some things to look out for? Install time? The shops want tons o' cash to do the job. Just trying to save money.

Re: Degree of difficulty - heater core replace?
The whole dash has to come out.Take it to a shop to get the a/c dischaged if it has a charge.Disconnect the battery to prevent damage to the airbag. You might want to invest in these, spring hose clamp pliers and they are not cheap which a much easier to use than channellock pliers since heater hoses have to come off.Astro Pnenamic,SK,Matco and Mayhiew make them. The prices vary,$35.00 to $100.00 for the spring hose clamp pliers
