1999 odometer light

I have a 1999 buick regal and the odometer display comes and goes. Most of the time it does not work. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Re: 1999 odometer light

Welcome to AF.

What model do you have......LS or GS or do you have the driver information center?

The problem which is common is limited to the Instrument Panel (IP) cluster meaning you'll either need to replace it with a new or used unit or send it out for repair.

Re: 1999 odometer light

I have a 1999 Regal GS with the driver information center. How difficult is it to change out the Instrument Panel? Is there a good website to see the break down of the dash? Thanks for the help.

Re: 1999 odometer light

For a Regal GS model with DIC there is a fix you can try DIY. See link below.

No detailed procedure that I know of but it is not that difficult. You have to carefully remove that long dash plastic bezel piece first. Once that is removed you'll see the screws holding the cluster. Once those are removed just undo the electrical connectors and the IP will come out completely. The link above may reference a thread to remove the cluster. Be careful not to break the clips that hold the bezel to the dashboard.

If you desire to send it out a company called Southern Electronics does this type work for a flat rate fee. Telephone number is 1-800-572-2880.
