SpeedOmeter gear
Hey guys,
I just bought an 84 Chevy K10 4x4. The only thing in the instrument cluster that doesn't really work is the speedometer. I took the cable out of the Transfer case, and there is no gear attached to the cable. I hooked my drill up to the cable, and it works fine. The problem is I don't know what type of a gear to install on the speed-o cable into the transfer case. Also, I have heard there are 2 gears, a drive gear, and a driven gear. But not sure which one is what. The truck came original with 2.73 gears, and 31x10.50x15, but now has 32x12.50x15 and 4.10 or 4.11 gears. Any ideas on where I can get a gear for that speed-o cable that will match the tire size, and gear ratio? And do I need 2 (a driven and drive)? |

Re: SpeedOmeter gear
It would help if you post the tranny and transfer case models that you have.

Re: SpeedOmeter gear
oh, sorry, forgot about that. I have a 700r4 auto tranny, and a NP 208 transfer case.
