Check Engine Light 2004 GP

My light just came on today and I thought I would check here. MY GP is one of the 2004's that has a leak somewhere on the passenger side front. I did the cabin filter change as recommended here, but the leak is still going. Would the moisture from the leak cause the Check Engine Light to come on? The details in the manual regarding possible causes mentions "driving through a deep puddle" so I thought I would check here for any info

Thanks

Re: Check Engine Light 2004 GP

Welcome to AF

Your PCM is mounted under the air filter, so it would have nothing to do with a leak inside the car. The warning about driving in deep water is because the air intake and PCM are in the left front corner of the car, and can take on water if you drive thorugh deep standing water. I would suggest taking the car to A-Z or Advance and get it scanned, then post the codes here so we can help you with the definitions.

Most (if not all) interior water leaks are cause by 3 things:

1. A clogged evaporator core drain allowing condensation from the A/C to leak back in the car instead of out the drain through the firewall and to the ground.
2. A bad air intake seal in the cowl area, allowing rain to leak in past (usually taken care of when the cabin air filter is installed)
3. A clogged sunroof drain tube (if equipped). One sunroof drain runs to the passenger side forward of the front door, the other runs to the driver's side behind the drivers door.
