Angry 96 cavalier clutch problem

I had a new clutch (main clutch) and ac compressor installed in my 96 cavalier, 2.2 l. About 2 days after i got my car back i noticed the clutch pedal had alot of dead zone..i figured it was a new clutch and i just had to get used to it..needless to say as i was driving one day i reversed, and when i went to place it in first, the shift stick was stuck in the reverse gear. Its like stuck in reverse and its like you have to be king arthur to pull the sword out of the stone to get it out. Then the car, without me even pressing the gas, but clutch pressd in, would reverse. then all the sudden the car engine shook violently. I shut it off and noticed radiator fluid had leaked. But what confuses me is that it shifts into gears perfectly when the car is off and i press in the clutch?!? Any ideas?

Re: 96 cavalier clutch problem

air in the hydraulic clutch system, they didn't bleed it out, contaminated with something. the list goes on, but if you paid for a clutch job, they did a crappy one. as far as antifreeze leaking out, that has nothing to do with a clutch, but maybe they caused a leak, could be the worlds worst timing too and they had nothing to do with it. with the car off, wether you press clutch or not should run through gears with some to minimal effort, sound like clutch not dis-engaging fully to unload trans to let you shift smoothly to next desired gear. with the problems you described, sounds like the above mentioned scenario. best of luck and let us know what happens!
