Drivers door won't unlock

I replaced the drivers door outside door handle on my son's 1993 gp. when i shut it, it wouldn't open. I finally got it open and took off the panel and checked everything and it looked ok. I manualy shut the lever on the end of the door to simulate it being closed and now it will not open so i can shut the door. all the linkage seems to be working ok. What can i do to unlock it.

Re: Drivers door won't unlock

The rod that runs from the handle to the latch is probably bent so it's no longer able to push the latch far enough to release. It's a fairly common issue on GM cars with the door handle on the pillar. Just straighten the rod slightly at each bend so it can push far enough to release the latch.

Re: Drivers door won't unlock

The 93' is the old body right? Make sure the handle is off another Grand Prix because there are some close ones and they don't work, I think some oldsmobile or something had one and the same thing happened to a friend of mine.
