2002 cavalier wont start HELP!!!!!!

this morning I tried to start my 2002 cavalier and all I got was a clicking sound. when I tried to start it with the head lights on it didn't start and there was no sound at all. The lights still work and so does the radio. Is this my battery or alternator?

could be both, its most likely just the battery though

Sounds more like a starter to me. If the lights work it is probably not the Bat. and the alternator would not cause not starting just a low bat. have someone tap the starter with a hammer or rod or whatever will reach it while you turn the key if it turns over while being tapped it is a bad starter.

dude check the positive battery connection and if it doesn't start get a new battery. You probably got a delco battery and if it is a 2002 most likely it is OEM and if it is cold in you area this could be just enough for the battery to not have the amperage it needs to crank the engine.

Sorry to say get your battery serviced its a ground (-) connection on battery, just use 8mm wrench remove neg (-) and clean up with wire brush, this has happened to me aswell, once i triied to turn it over it just clicked once and no show but lights worked... worth a shot. (be sure not to over tighten your battery terminal bolts, they will break off (just lead))
