security light in 97 olds eighty-eight
For about a week now, a security light shows up in my 97 olds eighty eight. I inherited the car about a year and a half ago and I know it has a security system but I have never used it. I was wondering what this light could mean, if it is referring to a problem seperate from the security system or not. The car has a 3.6L 6cyl engine and just over 80,000 miles. There have been no other problems with it. Also, the light seems to come on after I ride over the many potholes in my city. Any information would be appreciated.

Welcome to AF.
Your security features are always on when the key is in the ignition, and on. The only way to know whats wrong is to get it scanned. It'll probly take the stealership to read this though... Could be one of several things that could go wrong in the security system.
