When to replace brakepads

I looked back at my previous records for brake inspection at dealer.

Mileage - Front (mm) - Rear (mm)
19000 - 8 mm - 4 mm
29000 - 7.5 mm - 4 mm
39000 - 7 mm - 4 mm

Currently at 47000 miles but two years since the insp at 39000.
(all the above were at one-year intervals)

When should I start worrying about replacing brakepads.

Thank you.

Re: When to replace brakepads

You could be close, Front pads should last between 40-60 k miles depending on driving. I have almost 60 on my original set and they are due soon.

You will get a warning noise when very close (scraping, screaching that will stop when brakes applied) Not sure I would go that far.

I dont think the original pads have wear indicators, I know my 05 has almost 80,000 on the original pads and there is still a little bit of pad left.

Based on the measurments and miles you listed, you probably have about 5.5 to 6mm left, so you are probably good for a little while more.

Re: When to replace brakepads

If your brakes dont have wear indicators, you can determine when you need to change them based on the factory tolerances for the brake pad and the measurements in the service record for the car. But if you're in doubt, change them because brake pads are cheap; whereas, brake pads AND resurfacing the rotor is not...

It will make noise and you will feel the car not braking as good as it used to. Usually 50k with normal driving you can stretch it more 60k+ if you drive manual.
