help tranny swap

i got a th700-r4 tranny and would like to swap it out with either a th200 or a th200-4r. Is this swap possible.

Yes it is possible. The connectors for torque converter lock up are different but use the same color wires so you could cut and splice one for a 200R4 to your harness, or make up a short adaptor pigtail.

not to be rude but.... why would you do that?

the 700R4 has a bad rap, but its actually a great tranny. with a 3.06:1 first gear, off the line starts are hard to beat, and the overdrive makes even a nasty strip car somewhat liveable on the highway.

really the only downside to the tanny is that ugly rpm drop from 1st to 2nd gear.

they will also hold power, reliably up to 500hp if properly built. I personally would just suggest rebuilding the tranny you have. rather than doing a complete swap. unless the car is getting set up for strictly strip runs with a mountain motor. and then id be looking at much different trannies than a th200.
