Post converting analog dic to digital drivers info center

to convert to a digital dic you need to do the following:
on the digital dic you should have the following wires:
brown ing pwr in a2
orange constant battery pwr in a1
pink ing pwr in b9
Lght blu/blk left rear door indicator a12
blk/white right front door indicator b12
gry/blk left front door ind b11
light green/blk right rear door ind a11
blk ground b4
blk ground b5
light blu engine mgt switch b7
red/blk trunk ajar ind a10
tan comp data a7
dk green vehicle speed sensor b6
lght green low trac ind a3
purple/white trac off ind a6
brn/white trac switch out b2
grey change oil ind a9
drk blu/white aux chime b1
grey pwr dimmer b3
grey/blk vf park a5
blk/white low washer fluid ind b8

on your analog dic the wires are as follows
pink igintion pwr (i used this wire on both the brown and pink wire on the digital dic for ignition pwr)
red/blk-trunk same as digital
light blue/blk door ind same
blk/white door ind same
grey/blk door ind same as digital
light green/blk door ind same
both blacks are grounds doesn't matter which one goes to the digital blacks just hook them both up
light blu same
light green same
purple/white same
brown/white same
darkblu/white same
blk/white same

on the two greys use a test light and hook one end up to ground and the other to a greywire. then turn on your lights and adjust the dimmer. if your test light fades then that is the power dimmer if not then it is the change oil ind and the other grey is the light dimmer and you can hook them up accordingly.

for the orange batt pwr i had a plug with 4 wires taped with the harness under the dash with an orange wire that was constant batt pwr. i just spliced into it for the orange wire.

for the tan wire you need to splice into the tan wire that is on the diagnostic plug and run the wire up. I did not cut the wire but used a splice connector.
for the drk green wire for the vss you need to splice into the drk green wire on the back of the speedo. there are a few of them. mine was the second in next to a greyish brown wire.
I didn't use the grey/blk vf park wire

Mine came out of a gtp. if yours also did the trac light will say it is off but it is really on. if you press the button to turn it on it will be off. a digital dic out of a gtp will say tcs for the trac button. a digital dic out of a gt will say trac. also if your dic came out of a gt you can hook up the red wire which is for tire pressure I believe.

I have had no problems with my new dig dic since converting over.
I hope this helps anyone else interested in doing this

Re: converting analog dic to digital drivers info center

thanks alot!! I've been wanting to convert over, but I had no clue what wire was for what. I think this should be made into a sticky. Also, does it show you your gas mileage correctly? Thats the main reason I want it.

Re: converting analog dic to digital drivers info center

yourpappy, you got it to work? How long did it take? Where did you find the wires to splice into fr the ones that arent wired to the analog DIC?

Re: converting analog dic to digital drivers info center

as described above the orange wire which is a constant bat power wire i spliced into from a 4 pin connector that wasn't used taped to the dic harness under the dash. the green wire for the vss i spliced into from the back of the speedo. the tan wire which is a data wire i spliced into where the diagnostic plug is. I did not cut any of these wires but used a crimp on splice connector. it took about 2.5 hours. what took the longest was finding the right green wire on the back of the speedo.

Has anyone else attempted this swap? I have no problem moving the proceedure to the "tips and maintenance" subforum if it works.

Re: converting analog dic to digital drivers info center

I have to change a light bulb in my dash in the next few days. When I do I will take some pics of the wires I spliced into on the speedo and the diagnostic connector for you.
