runs then dies... wont start
95 intrepid runs fine for 10-20 minutes then dies. Won't start up again until it has sat for 30-60 minutes. No check engine light. The battery does seem weak but when the engine is running the multimeter is showing about 14 volts (so I assume the alternator is working fine)
The fuel pump and fuel pump relay have both been replaced but still have the same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: runs then dies... wont start
you may want to check the camshaft and crankshaft position sensors. crankshaft sensor went out on mine and it would die randomly and wouldn't start for about 10 minutes and never gave me a check engine light

Re: runs then dies... wont start
sounds like a crank sensor or cam sensor

Re: runs then dies... wont start
It could also be the coil pack. I had that happen to my 95. Once the coil pack heats up it shorts out untill it cools down again.
Please let us know what it was. |

Re: runs then dies... wont start
I will second the coil pack, my brother has a 94 and it would start and run, but then just die, and the only way to get it started again was to unhook the battery for a minute. After replacing the crank sensor and going nuts for a few days, I was looking under the hood when I saw a spark coming from the coil pack to the valve cover, then it died. It would run ok for a minute or so, and then you would see the spark and bam it would stall, was also causing some other strange issues, so im thinking the high voltage was going back into the harness and back to the computer???? Once the coil pack was replaced, it has been running fine ever since.
