'95 trans issue's.

First off, there is some GREAT info on this site and from what I've read it's time to replace the trans but before I do...
I went to take off and it felt like it was in second and the OD light started flashing then it didn't want to shift into 4th. When letting off the gas it wanted to downshift. I can manually put it in 1st and it will start off in 1st. I changed the filter and fluid, got it up to operating temp then turned it off and disconnected the battery to clear out any error codes. It ran fine(?) for about 20 miles then the OD light started flashing and it didn't want to shift out of 2nd. When the OD started flashing I felt 'something'. Not a vibration or a 'clunk' but one of those seat of the pants type feelings. On the way back home it finally started shifting into 3rd and even 4th. I went to move it today and when I put it in gear it engaged 'hard'. Reminded me of my hot rod days when I was running a high-stall torque convertor. Still no clunks or thumps. Still felt like it was starting off in second.
Oh, one more thing which may or may not be a part of this; fuel consumption has gone way up. More so than I would expect from a failing transmission.

Re: '95 trans issue's.

It sounds like your transmission is confused not necessarily failing. I would lean towards TRS or TSS. Wait until you get the OD light flashing again, then take it to the dealer or a transmission shop and have the code read. They should be able to tell you what’s wrong.
