code help P0120
hate for my first post to be a 'help me' one.... but here goes. '97 montero flashing a p0120 throttle\pedal position sensor\switch 'A' circuit malfunction. where do i start?

Unplug the connector to the throttle position sensor and examine it for any green corrosion. Plug it back in. Use a scan tool to clear the code. Check the adjustment of the throttle cable. So far the last time I saw a po120 code, it also had a Map sensor code with it. PO115? I think. The Montero Sport would bog down and stall when you apply gas above idle. It really turned out to be the VAF or MAF sensor malfunction. It did not even leave a code!!! I unplugged the sensor and then the vehicle ran properly!!! The next day we got a new VAF or MAF sensor and the customer is now happy. |

thank you very much, i'm having a tough time even finding a book for this. the '97 seems to have fallen thru the cracks in "haynes\Chilton" area

i took the plug apart and cleaned...no difference. so i'll order a new one. i'm also getting a p1600 'serial connection w\ tcm malfunction'
