Project 21 [56K WARNING]

Hey guys if some of you remember my thread about putting a big engine in my 1/10th scale, well i have already started

I bought a Ofna/Ho-Bao Hyper .21 8 Port engine off eBay.
Here it is:

I had to make my own Chassis/Engine Mount Plate, I used 2mm aluminum sheet and used a hack saw and file to cut and shape. For the mounts i used mild steel and used a hack saw, file and angle grinder to cut and shape. I also had to make my own thread in the mounts so i went out and bought a tap & die set from my local hardware store.
Here is a picture of the materials i used and how they turned out:

Here is the plate fitted to the chassis(Top view):

Bottom View:

Here is a picture of one of the engine mounts with the other already attached to the engine:

Here is a picture with the .21 test fitted in the car:

Here is the .21 next to my previous .15:

I've still got to make a mount for the brake arm and need to get the flywheel, flywheel nut, clutch shoes/springs and clutch bell. Once i have those I'll put it all together and attach the engine mounts to the plate.

Thanks for looking and I'll be sure to post videos once it's up and running.

Bryan

looks pretty sweet... hoepfully the drivetrain on that car and hold it.

just noticed something... how are you going to route the exhaust on that?

Yeah me too i hope the drive train can take the torque of this engine, thats why I'll either leave it FWD or RWD for a while.

On regards to the exhaust that has me stumped, i might just get a rubber hose for the mean time and route it to the back of the car. Also another thing i may have trouble with is the carburettor, i had no idea that the throttle moves/opens horizontally and I'm actually having trouble rotating the carburettor so that the throttle lever is on the opposite side.

Lastly I'll probably need your help when i need to break in the engine.

Oh i almost forgot i won an item off eBay which consists of a Flywheel/nut, collet, clutch shoes/springs, clutch bell. I should hopefully be receiving this at the end of the week so i may be able to finish up everything on the weekend

Re: Project 21 [56K WARNING]

unhooking awd will put even more strain on the drivetrain, you're better off leaving it AWD

you can loosen the carb and turn it around so that the throttle is on the other side.

Update!!

Just a little update however it's not about the engine it's about the visuals of the car.

Heres how it used to look:

Here it is now:

The wheels are HPI WORK Meister S1's I bought them off eBay as well as new tires 8 to be exact.

I thought that since the wheels are constantly spinning it would be less harsh on the drive train as opposed to all four gripping

I know how to spin the carby it's just the screw that's the problem.

Re: Project 21 [56K WARNING]

i think you should build a custom exhaust system, maybe even change that small one on the shell into a real one on the chassis? Then again, you dont want the pipes to be too long because of air flow restriction etc.
