I need some help and advice!!!!
Alright I picked up a 94 Camaro with a base 3.4 engine in it.....now the thing has like 150K miles on it and I wanna replace the motor and make this car worth something and my time. Now i could junk it and lease a new car but thats also a lot of money. So Ive been looking around and Ive been wondering if a 350 5.7 motor would fit??? Im into cars but i know more about body work and have a little experience under the hood....but I still no way more than most. But Im looking at some engines and I just wanna know if anyone could tell me........everything else that would have to be replaced and how much cash Im handing out in this deal........would you junk the car or keep it and drop the money in it??? If anyone would be nice enough lol to put down some stuff that would need to go in this that would be sweet!!!!

Re: I need some help and advice!!!!
What you'd need:
Engine Transmission (V6 trans won't bolt up to V8) Engine mounts Trans mount X member for new trans Front springs for V8 F body Harness for V8 along with ECM (if staying EFI) EFI induction Distributor And a bunch of other little things For the cost you'd be better off selling the V6 car and buy A V8 car. |

Re: I need some help and advice!!!!
You are def not going to want to drop a 4th gen motor by yourself. Especially if you don't know what you're doing. Just buy a V8 car.

So now what if I stayed with a 6??? Would that be cost effective.....and not such a pain in the ass

The easiest and most cost effective way to get some good numbers would be to just trade the car in for a Z28 or SS which already have 5.7's in them. Otherwise if you just want it for a reliable daily driver, then it's very suitable.

Re: I need some help and advice!!!!
+1 what Blind said.
What you have is a good daily driver. If you got it for like $100, and intended it to be a project car that's one thing, but if you bought for $5000 or so and decided (after buying it) to mod it into a high performance vehicle... you bought the wrong thing. Your life will be much easier and enjoyable if you start with the right base... |
