need help installing new radio.

i was finally able to mount the radio, but now there is another problem. Once i plug in the radio, nothing comes out of the speakers and it says "FAILURE" on the screen. But the strange thing is that it SHOWS that its working, but no sound comes out of the speakers. Did i make a bad connection and/or do i need more equipment??
