2003 odyssey alarm after dead battery?

The kids left a light on again and the battery was dead for just over a month! (It has become our spare vehicle since my wife getting her Fit). I tried jumping it, but the alarm goes off as soon as it gets power. Putting the key in the ignition and going to on will kill it. Van starts but the alarm goes on again and it will not stop! I can even drive it, so it is not "immobilizing" anything.

Thinking that perhaps the voltage is going real low when and somehow tripping the alarm, I pulled the battery, charged it overnight. This time when I hooked up the battery alarm went on again and I could not get it to quit even putting in the key and starting the car.

Did it lose some kind of code not having power so long?

Any help or suggestions? I will have to have it towed to the dealer if I cannot come up with something on my own (with the forums help of course).

Thanks in advance and GO ROCKIES!!!!!!!

I am not familiar with Honda's alarm system, but sometimes things can go awry.... things may just need to be re-synchronized. And yes, low voltage situations will allow alarms to be tripped unexpectedly.

Re: 2003 odyssey alarm after dead battery?

The problem you are experiencing is typical of this model/year. When the battery goes dead, the alarm will sound when the battery is charged or jump started.

To stop the alarm, insert a key into the drivers door, with the door closed, using a key in the door key lock, lock and then unlock the door, this should reset the alarm.

I did this about 5 times with my 2003 Odyssey. In fact, I am trying to figure out why I have had this experience so many times and I am not quite sure why the battery intermittently goes dead. It is possible that I accidently hit the interior light switch, but I am not sure that is case. Trying to find an answer is what lead me to start searching this forum.

I hope this helps for the future.

Re: 2003 odyssey alarm after dead battery?

Thanks, Its too late to try tonight, I'll try tommorrow after work. I was hoping someone had had this problem. I talked to the service guy at the local dealer today, he was predictably clueless.

I'll let you know how it goes.

P.S. If you did not see one of the lights on when you jumped the car, then you likely didn't hit it accidentally. This is also the problem that prompted me to join!

You're the man! That was really simple. And to think I was going to have it towed to the dealer!!!

Thanks again.
