distributor question

hey! Is approx. a half inch vertical play (with a twist) too much play when you pull up on the rotor/ dist. shaft?

Distributor shaft end play should be .010 to .015

It can be adjusted with shims. The distributor must be removed from the engnie, and the gear removed from the shaft to install the shims.

Why are you asking, do you have a problem with the truck? Do you mean when your pulling and turning it up/out?

the play is with the dist. still in the truck. Has 99.6k miles on it. I just noticed when i had the cap off, what i thought was excessive play -up & down - in the shaft. Since it can be shimmed, are there replaceable bushings or any seals to be checked also?
