Mic the lobes and compare it to your non-pi cam in your 96---pi cams have a LOT more lift--watchout for piston contact. If the cam gear is pressed on it's possible you have Winsor PI cams. Contact Anderson Ford Motorsport.com--they invented a tool to change the cams in a romeo engine without removing the front cover-and would know the part numbers used in Mustang GT's(there are several). I have a Winsor engine so I had to remove the front cover when I swapped in Crower stage 2 cams. If I can get to my stock cams(they are in the attic) I will see if a part number is on them and post it here. Good Luck!!

Re: cams

What are you calling a "Winsor engine"? If Windsor is what you mean then I am afraid you are mistaken. You mention "Winsor PI" and cam's as in more than one. You are talking about a modular or over head cam engine. The Ford Windsor engine family does not have any modular design engines. They are all single cam pushrod motors. I'm not sure what motor you have but I'm guessing a 4.6 which is not a Windsor (260, 289, 302, 351).

If you have a W in your mustang gt vin you have a engine from the romeo plant--if you have an X you have a engine from the winsor plant--I have a winsor engine--it was in the Mustang from 99 to mid 2001--that's why their are 2 types of SOHC cam covers available from BBK and others as well as 2 types of Patriot Peerformance heads etc. 4.6L 281 cu.in.
