1995 Aurora shifting

I wasn't sure how to post a question.
I have a 95' aurora that turned 144,000. at the same time "service engine soon AND the transmission doesn't shift in forward gears. I can downshift manually from ___? to 2nd and reverse is fine.

It seems strange that the problem came up at exactly 144,000.

Any ideas?
