Lamp out light problem '04

ok, so I just bought my truck a little less then 2 months ago and I am kinda new to the dodge's.....
The Lamp out light came on a couple days ago, flashing at first and now stays on, checked all the lights of coarse and none were blown... I did a little search and someone else had a problem with it as well coupled with their turn signal blinking fast every so often, which mine doesn't do... another thing I found was that some of the 1500's that didn't come with fog lights (i don't have them) the light would do that and to get it to turn off you had to install fog lights, though kinda skeptical on that one.... then another suggestion was that a relay in the lights might be bad, but to find out which one I would have to take it to the dealership to have the codes ran on it.
Any suggestions would be awesome...

Since you have mentioned the fact that you are new to Dodge, maybe you will want to do a once-over to ensure that all lights are working.. make sure you are inspecting all locations.

emt1134's suggestion isn't a bad one; I've found bad bulbs by putting turn signals on, having a friend step on the brakes, and also putting on the emergency flashers (and all of the above with and without headlights, both low and high beams)

You may simply have a short somewhere, and Advance Auto or Autozone personnel will often be able to run a diagnostic scan for you.

I had the same thing happen on my 2003 Ram. Suggest you check the brake light bulbs and sockets. The connections overheat and melt the plastic on the oem bulbs. The plastic then overlaps the wire connector and causes just enough change in resistance to trigger the computer, causing the lamp out indicator to come on. I hope this helps.
