Acceleration problems...
Hey all, I just replaced a messload of stuff on my blazer, and went to drive it (not start it) for the first time in three months. I was rewarded with the truck not wanting to get out of first, so I checked and filled the transmission fluid. Nothing. As soon as I go to accelerate in it, it just immediately looses rpms, and starts to sputter. I can park it and rev it up high, but once I put it in gear, it just doesn't want to go. I've done some looking, and I think it might be the MAP sensor that's gone bad, but I'm not sure. I don't see any check engine lights coming on so.... HELP!
Things I replaced in the three month period. (Just in case.) Master Cylinder Catalytic Converter Muffler That's a partial list, but those were some of the larger things I replaced. |

Re: Acceleration problems...
Year, engine, and transmission would be very helpful.

Re: Acceleration problems...
Although the engine light is not on, I believe there can still be a code present. So scanning would be wise.
How about fuel filter? |

Re: Acceleration problems...
Fuel filter is new. As for the scanner, I have no idea where to get one, and driving the car anywhere is practically out of the question. Anyone know where I can buy one for cheap?

Re: Acceleration problems...
Usually Advance or Autozone scan for free.
Maybe try unplugging the MAP sensor and see how it runs w/o it plugged in. |

Re: Acceleration problems...
I just unhooked the sensor, and it did everything fine. There was a little bit of over reving but other then that, it felt like a brand new engine running in there. Thanks stang.

Re: Acceleration problems...
Ok, so I bought a new map sensor, and I installed it, but it's just back to not working again. Whenever I really step on the gas it just sputters and the rpms drop like a rock.

Re: Acceleration problems...
Sounds like it could be a fuel pressure issue. Have you checked it?

Re: Acceleration problems...
What is the 8th character in the VIN? It will be either a "W" or a "Z".

Re: Acceleration problems...
Service port is at the rear of the engine near the distributor. 60 to 66psi, cold engine, fuel pump running, engine off. Must remain above 55psi for 3 to 5 minutes after pump shuts off.
