97 Sub - door locks do not work
I searched on here the other night and found some info on this issue. I needed some clarification though. I read here that the solenoids (I think in the doors?) are usually the culprits? None of my door locks will actuate from any of the switches in the truck. If I push the switch, there is a black box under the dash on the driver's side next to the tunnel that seems to be clicking. Can anyone clarify for me if this sounds like bad solenoids in the doors, or could it be something else? Do they usually all fail?
Sorry for all of the questions today. I just found this board nad am trying to get my Suburban back in tip top shape! Thanks, Shane |

Re: 97 Sub - door locks do not work
I really doubt that all the door solenoids would fail at the same time.
The "clicking" you're hearing is the "door lock relay". Looking at my '98 C/K manual schematics, it appears that the relay is getting the "energize" signal from the door switches (you can hear it clicking). The power thru the relay to the door lock motors comes from the Power Accy circuit breaker 30a in the IP fuse block. So, if you're electrically inclined, the 1st thing to check is for 12v from the C/B (hot at all times) at the relay (orange wire). Also check for a good ground (black wire). Let us know what you find or don't find.
