Re: any tips on puting on a timming belt?
It's hard to get on. Make sure the tensioner is released and pull that SOB over. It's hard the first time. Remember, these are going to stretch out a little when they get broken in, so it's tighter than it should be.

Re: any tips on puting on a timming belt?
I believe so. Someone else will verify that, but I believe the Evo3 motor is the same 4g63 so it should work.

Re: any tips on puting on a timming belt?
It's the same motor, the belt should work fine. Just FYI we usually advise people to use OEM belts from the dealership over aftermarket. Not that that Greddy belt isn't fine or anything. But usually for important parts like oil pumps and timing belts OEM is the way to go.

Re: any tips on puting on a timming belt?
Greddy is the only other belt I would use besides OEM. But if you ever have to do it again, cough up the dough and get an OEM belt from the factory, it's like an added insurance policy for your mind.

Re: any tips on puting on a timming belt?
Put the oem belt on then, unless they are all used.
You can sell the Greddy belt

Re: any tips on puting on a timming belt?
I run OEM belts on my eclipse. But damn if I had a GReddy belt I would deffinatly run it, fuck it, GReddy > OEM, IMO. It costs 2 times as much as a factory belt, so it should be good. Plus its GReddy, come on.

Re: any tips on puting on a timming belt?
If paying twice as much made the part better people would be running 18Gs all day long instead of stock 16gs from an EVO that's 10 years old.
And a dozen other similar examples could be cited. In many cases, OEM is better. In the case of belts, even if one is stronger, like the fancy blue one I had on the RWD, it can still fail. And when it does, it just costs more money to replace. The blue one got replaced with an OEM belt on the GT42Red RWD for whatever it's worth. YMMV, and as always, the choice is yours. Just voicing my personal opinion. If you already have the expensive belt you might as well use it of course. OEM belts will stretch (not sure about the fancy ones, but I suspect they will too), so set the gap to the tight end of the speced range at .15. It will stretch to .17 or so within about 2k miles.
