4.3 vs 4.3 vortec

What is the difference between a 4.3 and a 4.3 vortec? Can I get a 4.3 vortec longblock and use all the other parts off of my 4.3?

Re: 4.3 vs 4.3 vortec

from the best of my knowledge, vortec is a head design. everything else in the engine is the same, but the heads are designed to allow a swirling of the air in a mini tornado type fashion.

Re: 4.3 vs 4.3 vortec

i agree with jeddi the only difference in vortec and normal is just the head design thats it and the valve cover might say vortec to make it pretty thats the only difference that i know of so all the parts off your 4.3 will go onto a vortec cuz the all 4.3 blocks are the same to my knowledge so all heads have to have the same bolt pattern to bolt to the block so a normal 4.3 head and a vortec head will bolt to a 4.3

Re: 4.3 vs 4.3 vortec

The Vortec heads have a different intake bolt pattern so the older 4.3 intake will not work on the vortec heads.

Not sure if there is an aftermarket intake for the Vortec heads to use TBI. There is for the 5.7, just not sure on the 4.3.
