Unhappy Keyless Remote programming

I needed programming instructions for a 1999 Buick Century Keyless Remote. Received the instructions from 2 different people, but it doesn't work. Can someone tell me how to check to ensure there is a box in the car for the receiver?:zx11pisse :

2002 Buick Century Remote Programming

Have a 2002 Buick Century with remote entry. Have an extra hand held remote; numbers match factory units. Can it be programmed without fouling up the existing remotes? If so, anyone know how?
Thanks.

Probably the reason that the instructions don't work is everyone thinks they are universal but each year and each platform uses different program sequences. Here is the instructions for your car Mobrans.

Transmitter Programming
Method 1-No Tools Required
In the event that a transmitter is lost, program the old and the new transmitters into the memory of the remote control door lock receiver. Up to 4 transmitters may be programmed.

Important
Once entering this procedure, programming the first transmitter erases all previous transmitters. You must program all transmitters.
Program one vehicle at a time. One transmitter could be programmed into other vehicles that are also on program mode in close proximity.

Sit in the driver's seat.
Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.
Close all vehicle doors.
Press and hold unlock on the door lock switch.
While holding the door lock switch in the unlock position, insert and remove the ignition key twice. Do not rotate the ignition lock cylinder.
Insert the ignition key a third time leaving the key in the ignition lock cylinder. The ignition must remain in the LOCK position for the rest of the procedure.
Release the door lock switch. You will hear three chimes. This chime feedback indicates that transmitter programming is active.
Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons at the same time on the keyless entry transmitter for 12 seconds. You will hear two chimes. This chime feedback indicates that the transmitter has been programmed successfully.
Repeat step 8 for the rest of the transmitters (for a total of 4 transmitters).
Exit this procedure by removing the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.

You will have to have the dealer program your remote. And you will need to have all of the remotes present, when you enter the programming mode the computer clears all of the other remotes.

Here's the instructions anyway.

Transmitter Programming

Important
All transmitters which are to be recognized by the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) must be programmed in a single programming sequence. If the system is placed in program mode it will erase all previously programmed transmitters upon the receipt of the programming signal from the first transmitter. Up to 4 transmitters can be programmed. Do not operate or program the transmitters in the vicinity of other vehicles that are in the keyless entry program mode. This prevents the programming of the transmitters to the incorrect vehicle.

Install a scan tool.
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Use the scan tool in order to access the Body Control Module (BCM) Special Function: Program Key Fobs.
Press the START soft key on the scan tool.

Important
The scan tool must stay connected until all of the transmitters are programmed.

Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button simultaneously on one transmitter. After a delay of 5-10 seconds, the locks will cycle in order to confirm the programming of that transmitter.
Repeat the previous step in order to program up to 4 transmitters.
Remove the scan tool.
Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct system operation.

My parents just bought a 1998 Century that came with only one remote for keyless entry. I want to buy them two more and program them myself if it's possible. I see the instructions here for a 1999. Does anyone know how to program the 1998? Any help is much appreciated.

Dude 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2000 are the same procedure!

Red face 1993 Buick Century

Hi there! I have read some of the instructions that John gave for different Buick models, but I have not seen any specific to 1993 models. Probably I am repeating here, but here we go:

I have a 1993 Buick Century that the remote acces control ceased to work, with both remotes. This type of remote (it is located in the trunk) only has two connectors coming from the main harness. I would like to think that the remote lost its memory, before I declare the remote dead and out lay $180 for it.

Is there a way I can test the remote access control? I would ask you for help in programming instructions for this specific model.

Thanks!

The dealers have a battery operated tool to check remotes to see if they are any good. Easiest way to check the reciever that I know is to put the reciever in the learn mode and if all door locks cycle than its ok if not you need to replace the reciever!

Flatrater:

Thanks for the input. I assume that to put it in lear mode is to bridge pins 4 and 8 on the test bay connector below the steering column? Letīs layout the pin configuration:

x x x b
b x x x

The ones with the "b" are the connector position to bridge?

Thanks!

Is it possible to use the new style transmitter with a car that is equipped with an old style transmitter? I'll find pics.

This is what I have(Style A):

This is what I want to use(Style B):

My car has Style A, can a Style B transmitter be programmed to work properly with a Style A car?

It should be a 12 pin connector!

Answer to your question is NO they can't be interchanged. They work totally different and have different modules, you can only use the ones that came with the car.
