Crankshaft Position Sensor Question
99 Intrigue 3.5L with 99K just began starting hard and service engine soon light came out. Had code read at Autozone and it is showing crankshaft position sensor malfunction. I haven't had any stalling yet just long cranking to start.
The Autozone guy asked if I had any work done on the front right recently because he said the sensor or wiring could have gotten knocked loose. I just (three days ago) had the sway rod and linkages replaced and am wondering if that work could have knocked the sensor/wiring? I'd like to ask the mechanic but need to be a bit more educated first. If the sensor is bad I'll replace it (or have it replaced) but want to make sure it might not be from damage during the recent repair.
Any help would be appreciated (a diagram on where it is located would be great because I am contemplating doing this repair myself). For a guy that doesn't do much car work, is this a difficult part to replace? From reading on this forum, it sounds like a reasonably straight forward job; disconnect battery, remove starter, replace crankshaft position sensor, replace starter.
