a/c not working fuse keeps blowing

I just had alternator and battery replaced. Now my a/c doesn't work and I noticed the fuse #36 is blown. I replaced it with a new fuse and it keeps blowing and a/c still not working.

Unfortunately the shop is 500 miles from where I live, and can't take it back. The problem happened while on vacation.... The a/c used to work perfectly fine before my alternator died.

Re: a/c not working fuse keeps blowing

Is the fuse blowing with A/C turned on only or in off too? The fuse if it is for the A/C clutch circuits feeds protects the A/C clutch relay and compressor clutch coil. Possible clutch relay, clutch assembly or wiring problem.

It's only blowing when I turn on the A/C (fuse #23). I have the automatic climate zone. I noticed there is an a/c diode in the fuse box as well. How do I check that?

The a/c worked perfectly fine before I got new alternator and battery installed.

Maybe there was a surge when the alternator failed. The A/C diode is a possibility. Also, the A/C clutch relay or the compressor clutch coil.

Pull the diode. With a DMM in ohms (use autoranging) the diode will read open (infinite) one way with the meter leads touching the two spade contacts and then reverse the leads and you should get some sort of reading.
