Silverado 1500 Service Engine Light

Ok so my Service Engine Soon light came on the other day. I checked all the stuff I could think of and then disconnected the battery to reset the computer. When I reconnected the battery the light was still on. I then took the truck down to Auto Zone and their little hand-held computer did not even recognize the plug in my truck. I also took the truck to a Checker store and got the same story there. I was hoping someone would have some suggestions.

Does pin 16 have battery voltage? See http://www.obdii.com/connector.html

There is a fuse for the OBD-II connector.

Re: Silverado 1500 Service Engine Light

Hi, My 99' GMC gets power to the OBD terminal through the cigarette/power-point circuit. I would check that fuse.

Just an update. The Cigerett lighter point lost power months ago I could not find a fuse for it in my 01. Right now I have the truck down at the local Chevy Dealership hopefully they will call me with good news.
