Need Some Help w/ Shocks & Springs
I was looking for some help picking out a decent set of shocks and springs, a combo would be great, for my RS. I really don't know a whole lot about what to look for and what the best setup for my ride would be.
I am just loooking for a nice street setup that will lower the car some, but not too much, and that will be good for some track runs, tight curves, and just everyday street driving. Any help would be great, Thanks.

Re: Need Some Help w/ Shocks & Springs
This should go in the performance thread. Anyways...
I like the Ground Control coilovers. Coilovers themselves run about $350-400, but when paired with a good set of shocks (KYB's or Koni's), you'll get a very, very nice, sporty ride. Megan also makes a nice coil-over system, but they're a tad more expensive, but probably a little better for a "racing style" setup. Suspension is definitely one of the areas of "you get what you pay for." |

Re: Need Some Help w/ Shocks & Springs
Sorry, i thought it might be an exterior thread...
Ok would i want something thats adjustable? I was also curious if Tokico was a good brand to go with? I have always heard great things about them, especially with DSMs...

Re: Need Some Help w/ Shocks & Springs
Exterior is like bodykits, spoilers, wheels, etc. Suspension is usually a performance part, but no biggie, I'm sure a mod will move it for ya.
Tokico's are good too. Just make sure that whatever spring/coilover/shock setup you go with, make sure they are made for each other. I know that when you order GC's, you have to specify what type of shocks you run (stock, kyb, tokico, koni, etc), because they have specified spring rates and such for each type of shock. |

Re: Need Some Help w/ Shocks & Springs
I put Eibach Sportline springs on my friends z28 camaro with stock shocks. I liked it so much that I bought Eibach Sportlines for my spyder but used them with KYB gas shocks. And on my newest car, my honda civic I also put eibach sportlines on it too. Great spring. Lowers about 2 inches. Gives a good look, handling, and good ride IMO. I've used Eibachs on 3 cars so they must be pretty good. Only thing is with the Sportline springs they lower the car alot and can be a pain to drive in the city when pulling into parking lots and gas stations and what have you. Doesnt bother me, though. If you don't want so much of a drop you can go with the Eibach Pro-kits which dont lower as much.
From experience with Eibach I say go with them. Or atleast ground control coilovers because they use Eibach springs.

Re: Need Some Help w/ Shocks & Springs
I run the tokico spring/strut setup. Its very nice, great handling and makes the car look much better.
You have a good bit of choices here, you just going to have to see which you like best. If I could do it over again I would get a coilover setup. I would like to be able to adjust the ride height.

Re: Need Some Help w/ Shocks & Springs
I dont know if you already know but you will need to adjust front and rear camber a lot by getting a correction kit

Re: Need Some Help w/ Shocks & Springs
I just put a rear camber kit on mine. The front wasn't off that much. And You will also need an alignment.

Re: Need Some Help w/ Shocks & Springs
Yeah a camber correction kit would be a good idea. Atleast in the back like silvreclipse said. I dont have a camber correction kit on my car and it wears out the inside of the tires a good bit. Fuck it. I got the hookup on tires...$35 a piece. And I figure the extreme camber will help handling. And I also like the way the car looks from the back...the tires stick like way out of the back bumper..pimpin.

Re: Need Some Help w/ Shocks & Springs
Alright thanks, what is a good lowering amount, i was thinking two inches lower, but will that look shitty? I dont really want the "tire tuck" look, i just want the tires to be like an inch or so away from the fenders, something that looks nice.
